Opening Times



The Grounds and Garden are now open all week, all year round!


From April 7 until September 30, the House will be open for guided tours, and cafe open for refreshments on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.


Guided tours: 11.30am & 2pm


Grounds and Garden open from 11am to 5pm

Tickets are available from our Courtyard Café, offering fresh baking and beverages.


We welcome children under 16 free of charge.

Accessibility


Partially suitable for visitors with limited mobility.
Accessible parking and/ or drop-off point at the Main Reception.
Wheelchair access to the main floor of the house (no lifts within the house) and access to the gardens via gravel pathways and grass.
Accessible WC facility located in the Courtyard.


Woodland Walk has a mixed path of bark in some areas and stones in others. The path has an incline of between approximately 10 and 20 degrees with some small sections of approximately 30 degrees. The circular route involves old stone steps or visitors can return via the grass slope in front of the house or back along the woodland walk.

Location


The house is signposted on the A6089 Kelso-Gordon road. The approach from the A68 Jedburgh-Edinburgh road is through Earlston on the A6105, then via the B6397 towards Smailholm. Approx 15 mins from Melrose & Kelso/ 1 hour from Edinburgh & Berwick-upon-Tweed.

DOG WALKERS

Dogs are welcome in the gardens at Mellerstain. All dogs must be kept on the lead and any dog mess cleaned up
